Bridgeton Fans get ready because a new one Bridgeton Prequel series is coming to Netflix! We’ve started tracking any new information Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story to create a guide to share with you.
In May 2021, Netflix announced to the world that a Bridgeton Prequel series was in the works and the story would revolve around the origins of Queen Charlotte. Shonda Rhimes signed on as head writer, showrunner and executive producer. Rhimes’ longtime partners Betsy Beers and Tom Verica joined as executive producers, with Verica also directing.
Then, in March 2022, Netflix had finalized the full cast of the upcoming period drama, starring newcomer India Amarteifio.

Updates on the release of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story
Unfortunately, the historical drama has no release date yet. However, it has been reported that a release date is set sometime in 2023. In any case, you can count on us to announce the official release date as soon as it is announced.
Cast of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story
As previously mentioned, India Amarteifio will play a young Queen Charlotte in the series. You may know her from shows like sex education, Doctor Who and The tunnel. Joining her as Young King George is actor Corey Mylchreest. Bridgeton Formers Golda Rosheuval, Adjoa Andoh and Ruth Gemmell will reprise their roles in the prequel series.

On June 8th, Netflix announced two new recurring characters named Vivian Ledger and Lord Ledger. Katie Brayben will play Vivian Ledger and Keir Charles will portray Lord Ledger.
07/07/2022: Netflix announced that Connie Jenkins-Greig will be taking on the role of Young Violet Ledger, daughter of Vivian and Lord Ledger. Violet is described as a “friendly and inquisitive teenager who hasn’t yet entered the marriage market…or become famous a Bridgerton.” So it looks like we now know who will be playing a Young Violet Bridgerton.
Filming of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
As reported by Just Jared, production on the prequel series officially started on April 19th in London, England. Golda Rosheuvel, Hugh Sachs and several other cast members were photographed on set while filming.
However, the show’s director, Tom Verica, posted a photo of something series-related to his Instagram with the caption: “New chapter. Day 1 filming. never gets old #DirectorsPOV Wait till you see what we have in store!” This was posted on March 28th. So production may have started a little earlier than April 19th. Filming officially wrapped on Aug. 30, according to an Instagram post from Verica.
Queen Charlotte: An exclusive clip from Bridgerton Story
Netflix released an exclusive clip featuring some cast members (India Ria Amarteifio, Golda Rosheuvel and Adjoa Andoh) discussing collaborating on the upcoming period drama. The video ends with a special look at India Ria Amarteifio as Charlotte.
